To gain admission into an American or Canadian university and high school, it’s critically important to submit a complete application package. This will ensure no delays in the admissions process. Here are the key items to include in an application package:
- Signed, dated, and legible application form. You can also apply online.
- Copy of your passport identification page
- Official copies of all transcripts (original and translated into English)
- Teacher recommendations (usually Math and English)
- Current bank statement (in original language and English) indicating adequate funds to support at least one full year of academic study as well as personal expenses
- Student letter for undegraduate applicants (300 words introducing yourself to the university community)
- Personal statement for graduate and MBA applicants (a compelling and focused essay about your career or research goals)
- English score – SLEP for High Schools in the USA; TOEFL/IELTS for univerities in the USA and Canada. Study Group’s English test for Academic Programs is also accepted at Degree Pathway Programs for international students.
- Credential evaluation (graduate applications only). Use organizations like World Education Services: www.wes.org
High School applications also often include an interview. In most cases it is the student’s responsibility to contact the school by phone or Skype at the scheduled time. Don’t miss the interview or this will further delay the admissions decision.
It is imporatant that your application package is complete, otherwise, you may miss the university application deadlines. Also, make sure you apply well in advance of the deadline, so that you have enough time to apply for your visa.
